History

The company entered the Czech market in August 1992. As a support to their growth plans for the company, the founders of WOODCOTE wanted to expand their activities to supply the whole of the Czech market with high quality building materials. In the first three years of existence the WOODCOTE Company achieved turnover amounting to 25 million CZK a year.

Neville Parry started working with the WOODCOTE Company in 1995. He has helped in taking the company to a new level by engaging investors in a new plan for the company’s development and investment for the future. This made it possible to proceed into both the Czech and Slovakian markets.

By the end of 1997, the first phase of the development plan had been successfully completed. In this period the company also managed to acquire further investment to expand into Poland, Hungary and Romania.
From 1998 to 2002 the company successfully expanded into these markets which resulted in a sharp increase in turnover from 25million CZK in 1995 to 1 billion CZK in 2002. Progressive development and extending the product range has led to a continuous rise in turnover. The current value approaches almost 3 billion.
The WOODCOTE Company has been audited by companies like KPMG or BDO.

In 2006 WOLSELEY plc. acquired 100 % share in WOODCOTE-building materials, a.s., the parent company of WOODCOTE.

WOLSELEY plc is the world's number one distributor of heating and plumbing products to the professional market, and a leading supplier of building materials and services. Turnover of Wolseley Group in the financial year ending July 31st, 2009 was GBP14.4 billion with a total of 51,000 employees in 27 countries.
The company will keep using the WOODCOTE brand in the Czech market and the current Czech management team will continue to manage the company and its business activities. We expect that with the help of operational know-how and financial strength of the WOLSELEY Company WOODCOTE can faster achieve its goals and further deepen and widen the coverage of the local market.
